Despite the weather the crowds
turned out to support the 2007 Desborough Carnival. People lined the streets
to watch the parade of floats and walking entries make their way around the
town led by Carnival Queen, Claire Ward. The rain held off for the afternoon
and crowds flocked to the Recreation Ground to enjoy the entertainment and
the many stalls and sideshows on the field.
Carnival Chairman Michael Crick said, ”Despite the weather forecast the rain
held off for us and enabled the Carnival to go ahead as planned. We were
very pleased with the turnout of both entries in the parade and the local
townspeople on the field supporting the many sideshows and watching the
entertainment. It looks like we have again raised a large amount of money to
support local organisations. All the money raised from the event goes back
into the town.” |
The
Carnival Committee held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday 18th October in the Desborough Indoor Bowls Club. The Carnival Queen presented cheques totalling £3150 to local
organisations. Despite the bad weather for the 2007 Carnival, the
Committee gave away a slightly larger amount than last year. |
