The Society is completely independent and non-political.
Its income is derived entirely from voluntary subscriptions contributed by
public-spirited individuals. It aims to be constructive and not seek
confrontation with national or local authorities. By means of
discussions, exhibitions and publications it maintains close contact with
members, the public, local authorities, professional institutions and other
civic and amenity societies.
The Society is registered
with the Civic Trust and is a registered charity (no. 10868882).
