The Amdram web site first hit the net in
June, 1997. It originally had 4 online pages, and was funded by Curtain
Call, the amateur theatre newsletter for Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex,
Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. It now has about 1,500 pages on the
server, including advertising pages, on-site hosted club pages and several
searchable databases. The intention behind the site was to bring
part of the large volume of Curtain Call information online, and to help
publicise amateur theatre to the world in general.
Curtain Call's main aim is to provide a local service in Norfolk, Suffolk,
Essex, Cambridgeshire and more recently Hertfordshire, for groups which
wish to be kept in the know about what other groups near and far are
doing. Since then, due entirely to reader demand and responses, it has
grown into a fully-fledged bi-monthly newsletter, with feature articles,
reviews and informational material.
