Home wedding music

The list below gives some suggestions for the music that the bride can come in to. The list is based in part on popular choices (and that really is just the Bridal March from Lohengrin by Wagner (Here comes the bride) and the Wedding March from A Midsummer Nights Dream by Mendelssohn). The rest of the list comprises music that provides a good pace for the bride and properly announces to the congregation that the big event is now under way. The walk down the aisle at Saint Giles takes only about 30 seconds even at a slow rate and, allowing for the whole bridal party to come through the door, arrive at the front and settle to their places, there is never more than a minute's worth of music at this stage. Some of the suggestions are, therefore, extracts from the beginning, middle or end of the pieces given.
