The greyhound sanctuaries are not just what the dogs are owed by the
industry which profits from their efforts. There is a valuable job
creation opportunity here.
The opportunities of employment and
NVQs for people suited to and attracted by caring for animals - especially
in parts of the country needing jobs - is too good to miss.
It follows that kennels and land for
exercise will be available in rural rather than urban areas. Access to
employment that does not require long distance commuting should be
welcomed on environmental and human grounds.
