About us

Our local WI has links with the national organisation which runs dozens of training courses with demonstrations and talks from visiting speakers. You can develop your skills up to "expert" level and join in national festivals and workshops.

With the WI you can have the active lifestyle you've always promised yourself. Whatever your level, whatever your interest - walking, surfing, croquet or sky diving - join the WI and get more out of life.

In the past the National Federation of Womens' Institutes has worked on a wide range of issues: from issues of national concern such as the decline in rural services, to international issues such as the negative impact of free trade on the worlds poorest people. The NFWI's current campaigning priorities are the Save Our Post Offices campaign, a new campaign on Children's Diets, Exercise and Health, the campaign on Chemicals and Health, and the ongoing campaign on Genetically Modified Food and Crops.

Locally, our meetings are lively events with guest speakers on a wide variety of subjects, often involving participation. They are also an opportunity to meet old friends and find new ones, too.

The Desborough WI is organised by a committee.
