Discovering and helping local wildlife
| Within living memory, our
counties were rich with birdsong, colourful wild flowers and a glorious
abundance of native wild animals. Today, the sites and sounds of our
native species are in serious decline. Our woodlands, fields,
orchards, hedges, rivers and ponds have all been significantly reduced or
damaged by industry, transport and agriculture. |
| Many of our precious wildlife
species are in decline or dangerously close to extinction. The
Wildlife Trusts seek to reverse this. Locally we have had many
successes and continue to work for our wildlife's future. |
 |
"The
Wildlife Trusts play a very important part in protecting our natural
heritage. I would encourage anyone who cares about wildlife to join
them."
Sir
David Attenborough, Vice-president, The Wildlife Trusts |
